All of the CASp inspectors we work with have a minimum of 10 years of experience working in the ADA compliance industry. The CASp program is designed to protect you as a property owner and this is why they need to work for you directly.
CASp is short for 'Certified Access Specialist' and it is a term applied to a qualified expert in construction-related accessibility. The Division of State Architect is responsible for certifying each CASp, licensing them to inspect commercial property and grant the owner ‘Qualified Defendant’ status. This provides the property owner with certain legal protections should they be served a lawsuit for failure to be ADA Compliant.
Once inspected, a CASp can either issue a report stating that the property meets all applicable standards, or it will simply confirm the inspection by marking it ‘inspected by a CASp’. This indicates that a list identifying violations and the necessary improvements that are needed to bring the property into compliance has already been issued and are to be scheduled for completion within a reasonable, agreed timescale.
